We had such a fun and festive time celebrating Easter at school! For a few special hours, the students were filled with joy, laughter, and springtime excitement.

The students were absolutely delighted by a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny! Seeing their faces light up as the Bunny waved and greeted them was such a heartwarming moment.

A huge thank you to the amazing parents who helped make this event possible! Your time, effort, and support brought so much joy to our students—we’re truly grateful.

Wishing you all a happy and sunny spring season!

Dear Parents,

Here we have Ariel Maya received an award for showing fairness in school. He got a chance to have lunch with Dr. Reimer. We also have pictures of our fieldtrip to San Lorenzo park to learn more about the California Gold Rush and a picture of the Easter Egg Hunt.

Parents keep having your child practice their multiplication tables at home every day. Also recommended reading time of 15 minutes or more at home as well.

Thank You,

April Highlights from Our Classroom!

Dear Families,

April was full of learning, laughter, and a whole lot of creativity! As we close out the month, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible work and joyful memories made in our classroom and at our school.

Character Counts Recipient: Maya Gomez

We are proud to recognize Maya Gomez as this month's Character Counts award recipient for Fairness. Maya consistently shows what it means to be inclusive and just-always ensuring that every voice is heard, every classmate is considered, and no one is left out. Whether it's in group activities or casual moments in class, Maya leads with kindness and fairness in everything she does. We're so lucky to have her as part of our classroom community!

Easter Egg Hunt Fun

Our class also enjoyed a festive Easter Egg Hunt, filled with hidden surprises and plenty of joy. Thank you to all who helped make this event a special one for our students!

Spelling Word Showdown: Greek & Latin Roots

Throughout the month, we explored spelling words with Greek and Latin roots. Students engaged in interactive, station-based competitions, racing against the clock to create the longest word lists possible using the roots provided. It was fast-paced, fun, and full of friendly competition-perfect for building vocabulary and critical thinking skills!

Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We can't wait to see what May brings!

April went by too quickly!

The two weeks before spring break were spent on ELPAC testing. ELPAC is our English Language Proficiency Assessment for California. This is our statewide test of English language proficiency; not all of our students take ELPAC.

For those students who do take ELPAC, they are tested in Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing and can achieve

  • Level 1: Beginning to Develop

  • Level 2: Somewhat Developed

  • Level 3: Moderately Developed

  • Level 4: Well Developed

Our ELPAC results will be available late May.

The other final test of the year is the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).

Students will take English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science (science will be for grades 5,8 only) tests. The tests are very rigorous, but our students have the wits, grit, and determination to achieve. We are very proud of the growth the students continue to show!

If you are ever curious about our state assessments (what kinds of questions the students get, how long they take, etc.), please stop by to talk! Also, books are always available for students to take home.

Happy reading!

Superintendent/Principal’s Newsletter
May 2025

Dear San Ardo Families,

As we move into the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible team that supports our students every day. During the week of May 5th, we will be honoring our outstanding teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers work tirelessly to inspire, guide, and nurture each student, and we are excited to recognize their dedication with special activities throughout the week. Later in the month, during the week of May 19th, we will celebrate Classified School Employees Appreciation Week, acknowledging the vital contributions of our office staff, custodians, instructional aides, cafeteria workers, and all support staff who keep our school running smoothly. Please join me in thanking all our amazing employees for their commitment to the San Ardo community.

We are also thrilled to announce that San Ardo Union Elementary has received a generous donation of 10 guitars and amplifiers from the organization Guitars Not Guns! This wonderful gift will allow us to offer beginner guitar classes for students, which will begin on May 2nd. We are excited to add this new dimension to our music program and provide students with another creative outlet to explore their talents. Thank you to Guitars Not Guns for making this opportunity possible!

As always, thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. Let’s finish the school year strong!

Warm regards,
Dr. Catherine Reimer
